21 year-old Scott Gelbart began playing baseball at Santa Margarita High School in California, a school that helped produce the likes of Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher Jared Hughes and LA Dodgers outfielder Trayce Thompson.

A starter both seasons for his Freshmen and JV teams, Gelbart graduated in 2013 with the schools prestigious Eagle Award. He moved to Texas later that year to study at Southwestern University, where he played for the Southwestern Pirates.

In 2015 Gelbart switched to Austin College. He turned out for the Roos a total of 52 times and leaves behind a scoring record that includes 25 RBIs and 13 runs at the plate, with 392 POs and an FCPT average of .981 in the field.

The Mustangs are delighted to welcome Scott Gelbart to Wide Lane. At 6’2 we hope his height can match our ambitions for the 2017 season.
